Dr. Linda Cliatt-Wayman, a fierce advocate for children, has spent three decades fighting for children in poverty to be properly educated in Philadelphia Public Schools.
Linda spent 20 years as a Special Education teacher before becoming a New Teacher Coach, Principal of three high schools and Assistant Superintendent for all 56 Philadelphia Public High schools. She is the only woman and African American to ever lead ALL the Public High Schools.
She now serves as Founder and Executive Director of Currently Trending, a non- profit that provides leadership coaching, educational support, and inspiration for teenagers while they navigate challenging experiences so they can LEARN in order to live out their life purpose free from poverty.
Her powerful leadership and success with students have caused people to take notice. ABC’s Diane Sawyer, and her team documented Linda’s efforts two school years and featured her work on ABC World News Tonight, and Nightline. That featured story landed her as Keynote Speaker at the Pennsylvania Conference for Women in front of 10,000 people sharing the stage with Former Presidential Candidate Hillary Rodman Clinton. She was named KYW Gamechanger. In 2014 she won the Philadelphia’s Magazine Trailblazer Award recognizing leadership among women. In 2015, she was asked to do a TED talk that to date has received over 2 million views. In 2017, Dr. Wayman was recognized and rewarded by the Prince of Peace Baptist Church for her commitment to youth in the North Philadelphia neighborhood where she grew up and in 2018 she won the Women’s Way Lucretia Mott Award for advancing gender equity for all, just to name a few. She has been asked to be the Keynote speaker for over 50 non- profits, fortune 500 companies and educational institutions.
The author of Lead Fearlessly, Love Hard: Finding Your Purpose and Putting It to Work, Linda is driven by her love for all children. She ended every announcement to her students each day with “ If nobody told you they loved you today, remember I do and I always will.”
