About Us

Mission

Currently Trending’s mission is to teach teenagers how to navigate challenging experiences so they can LEARN, LEAD, LIVE purposefully, and LOVE generously.

We work alongside teachers, parents, and partners to provide Philadelphia’s High School students in grades 9-12 with extended learning opportunities to ensure that they graduate equipped with the tools needed to excel in college, the workforce, and in life.

Coaching to Commencement

Every family is given a coach. They can contact the coach for any educational concerns or successes. The same coach is assigned to the family until high school completion.

High School Summer Leadership Retreat

Recruit students in their final month of 8th grade. During the summer before entering high school we informed the students about graduation requirements, the high school setting, how to make positive friends, join clubs and create a post high school plan to reach their dream.

Saturday Leadership Sessions

Leadership Development sessions focused on one Leadership Pillars per month. The pillar is introduced, modeled, and then the students work in a team to role play how it will be used in their everyday lives. In addition, a " Meet the Expert" series is offered in the afternoon. The students get the opportunity to hear from professionals from various careers. Included in their presentation is the leadership pillar discussed. We want them to tell the students how focusing on that Leadership Pillar helped them to become successful. Planning for their successful future is our focus.

Parent Engagement Sessions

Every month there is a Parent Engagement Session before every Saturday Session with the students. The agenda is reviewed and the parents are asked for suggestions and feedback. We truly believe that the parents make our program a huge success and we want to include them in many decisions we make. The leadership pillars taught must be reinforced and demonstrated at home.

Our Saturday sessions are reserved for team building, college preparatory, and leadership development curriculum.

Dr. Linda Cliatt-Wayman

Meet the Executive Director

Dr. Linda Cliatt-Wayman, a fierce advocate for children, has spent three decades fighting for children in poverty to be properly educated in Philadelphia Public Schools.

Linda spent 20 years as a Special Education teacher before becoming a New Teacher Coach, Principal of three high schools and Assistant Superintendent for all 56 Philadelphia Public High schools.  She is the only woman and African American to ever lead ALL the Public High Schools.
